Horologion of Andronikos travel information
Horologion of Andronikos, or the Tower of the Winds is a beautiful building constructed in Athens around 100 BC, for the purpose of measuring time. It is an octagonal structure which is almost 13 meters high and 8 meters in diameter. All eight sides of the tower face points of the compass and are decorated with a frieze of figures, which represent the winds that blow from those directions. Besides the Tower of the Winds, Andronicus also constructed a multi-faced sundial in the Poseidon sanctuary, on the Greek island of Tenos.
