When we arrived Coffee and Tea was waiting for us in the warm, cozy lounge. The breakfast served was the best we had on the trip and we did not have to pay additional for it. The proprietors were so helpful and courteous. They made our breakfast to order in addition to providing cereals, juices, yogurt and vegetarian varieties of their foods. I have to say, this is the best place we stayed during our five days in Northern England (stretching from Carlisle to Alnwick). We stayed in 4 star hotels and 4 star B&B''s if this provides any indication as to the wonderous quality you receive in this lodging.
The bed was very hard.

Food was excellent and the location was great.
I felt the lovely old building deserved better than the rather 80s ish 'new' decor, but I suppose that's a matter of taste. And a better mattress would be a great improvement. However, for the price it was all very good.
